01 / SELECTED PROJECTS

Engineering projects

Selected coursework and design projects,
including methods, tools, and results.

01 / ACCESSIBLE TOOL DESIGN

Combination wrench grip

One modular grip. Six wrench sizes.

I designed a modular wrench grip for people with reduced grip strength or physical disabilities. The socket-mounted interface accommodates multiple standard wrench sizes, with design iterations focused on connection stability and ergonomic handle geometry.

FIT & FUNCTIONValidated across six wrench sizes using nTop.

02 / PRODUCT & MECHANISM DESIGN

The Bike Bristle

Adjustable bicycle chain-cleaning attachment.

An automated bicycle chain-cleaning concept developed to address degradation from inconsistent maintenance. I designed an adjustable clamp in SolidWorks to accommodate multiple bicycle frame geometries without permanent modification.

DESIGN FOCUSAn adjustable fit across different bicycle frames.

03 / MACHINING & MANUFACTURING

Pneumatic air piston

Machined components and a sand-cast mounting plate.

I interpreted engineering drawings to machine and drill aluminum assembly components. I also sand-cast the mounting plate and tapped threaded holes to secure the mechanism to its base before testing the finished assembly.

TESTED PERFORMANCERotational speeds exceeding 4,000 RPM.

02 / A LITTLE ABOUT ME

About me

I’m Elijah, a mechanical engineering student at Wentworth Institute of Technology. I’m currently a junior and expect to graduate in August 2028. I like the hands-on side of engineering, especially being able to take something I designed in CAD and turn it into a working part.

A few of my main projects have been a modular wrench grip, a bicycle chain-cleaning attachment, and a pneumatic air piston. These projects have given me experience with SolidWorks, machining, sand casting, and testing. I like seeing how a design changes once you start making it and figuring out what needs to be adjusted along the way.

I’m also part of Wentworth’s SME club, and my background includes robotics, IT, and cybersecurity competitions. I’m looking for a spring co-op where I can get more experience and put what I’ve learned to use.
